From March 11–14, 2025, Dr. Rey Y. Capangpangan, Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Global Engagement, and Prof. Frederick B. Cabactulan, Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development, represented MSU-Naawan at the 23rd ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Training Course for Accomplishing Programme Assessment (Tier 1) in Bangkok, Thailand.
The training was graced by academic leaders and quality assurance professionals from across Southeast Asia to enhance their expertise in AUN-QA programme assessment, accreditation processes, and quality assurance frameworks. Through interactive sessions, the participants gained insights into curriculum mapping, gap analysis, and program assessment using the AUN-QA model.
Dr. Capangpangan and Prof. Cabactulan actively participated in discussions and hands-on exercises to align MSU at Naawan’s academic programs with international quality standards. Their involvement in this training, coupled with the university’s ongoing efforts toward ISO 9001:2015 certification, reinforces the university’s steadfast commitment to excellence, innovation, and global competitiveness, driving continuous improvement in higher education and institutional growth.
This initiative strengthens MSUN’s quality assurance efforts, paving the way for future accreditation and enhanced academic excellence. Key takeaways from the training emphasized the importance of a succession and development plan for both academic and non-academic staff, ensuring institutional growth and sustainability. Additionally, the training highlighted the need for a clear purpose and alignment in teaching and learning approaches to drive continuous improvement and enhance educational outcomes.
